Grand Theft Auto IV…Don’t worry Niko Bellic is here

Photo15

This game has no limitations, it is an open-world action adventure based on the protagonist Niko Bellic, an Eastern European who came to American to find the person who betrayed his comrades in a war many years ago.

This game has a very long list of characters but some of the main characters out of them are Niko Bellic, cousin Roman, Mallorie Bardas, Kate, Michelle, Little Jacob, Brucie Kibbutz, Patrick McReary, Derrick, Francis, Gerald, Dwayne Forge, Manny Escuela, Elizabeta Torres, Playboy X, Vlad Glebov, Mikhail Faustin, Ray Bulgarin, Jimmy Pegorino and Dimitri Rascalov.

This is the 11th title of the Grand Theft Auto franchise, developed by Rockstar North and published by Rockstar Games. This was released on PS3, X360 and PC. The PC version of the game came later on Dec 3, 2008.

What does it mean “To live an American dream” and how one experiences it if one has never been to America. Well Niko Bellic was the one who came to America to live an American dream, being overly cynical he doesn’t always agree with others in conversation leaving the talk open for more weirdness, criticizes over some aspects of life such as being born affluent, having money to manipulate others, use others to own’s advantage and one thing which I liked myself was Niko Belllic being sceptical about America and saying ” Capitalism is a dirty business”.

Soon Niko Bellic learns some facts about his brother that he is in debt to loan sharks, he owes to several other people including Vlad Glebov and it is hard to live an American dream without money, without others help, without greediness, without taking advantage of others and ultimately without getting involved in heinous crimes.

This game consists of a very complex plot where several changes in the storyline can be noticed based on decisive factors like morality choices taken by Niko Bellic(by players actually) which unfolds many hidden facts and changes the plot accordingly later in the game.

Besides this, what I loved about this game was the gameplay, the use of firearms and explosives to blow up the cars usually the armoured cars, police cruisers, swat vans, big trucks such as dump trucks, garbage trucks and buses. Fighting single-handedly with LCPD, FIB Buffaloes and NOOSE Enforcers without calling Dwayne’ gang boys, and don’t miss out on police helicopters(Mavericks) and Annihilators, which are most annoying when the wanted level reaches three stars or more, take them out as soon as you can with a Rocket Launcher. Completing Vigilante missions, Most Wanted missions, Races, Car thefts, Assassination missions, Drug deliveries etc. made me hungry for more.

You will love doing sidequests like killing all the flying rats(pigeons) and unique stunt jumps which are absolutely crazy demanding lots of searching, head shaking, wandering around the same place for hours but despite all this the feeling we get when we find the flying rat or complete a stunt jump is inexplicable.

Money will easily come when you complete the missions, either main story missions or side ones so don’t worry about doing the following :

  • I don’t believe in implementing cheats in the game that seriously ruins the whole mood. Earning money by cheats or getting all weapons, full health, fancy racing cars, Annihilator or unique vehicles just at the push of a cheat code is not something to be proud of.
  • Taking help from a walkthrough when you get stuck somewhere and not able to find what you are looking for is rather OK but cheat codes are not my cup of tea.
  • This goes for implementing mods in the game too. Enabling mods and summoning Iron Man, the Hulk and I don’t know who else is just a mockery on the face of Rockstar. The originality of the game is destroyed and I honestly don’t know why people enjoy creating such things after all.

What I seriously believe is that the game itself is enormous, its environment is so spacious that exploring each and every place is filled with fun and excitement. Doing missions, side-quests, wandering around demand lots of concentration and skills. You will not get time to do other things like described in points above.

Play this game, end it but above 90% game completion if you can achieve 100% then you are a beast, I did it with 92% game completion, I wasn’t able to find some of the remaining stunt jumps and flying rats. Also didn’t go through all the Easter Eggs

Why do this? Because this is what Grand Theft Auto is about, exploring the whole environment, getting to know tiniest bit of unimportant silliest talks among strangers, bystanders and gang group members, doing all this with great enthusiasm and devotion.

I hope you can end it with 100% completion as many have already did(details provided below with full walkthrough video). Good Luck to you in your journey through one of the greatest games built by Rockstar after Grand Theft Auto San Andreas, the Grand Theft Auto IV.
